Colossal Candy Corn

Ingredients:

  • 3 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • 40 regular size marshmallows (or 4 cups miniature marshmallows)
  • 6 cups rice krispies cereal
  • *decorating frostings/gels in yellow, orange, and white

Directions:

Take out a big soup pot, put the butter in and put the pot over low heat, and stir to melt the butter.
Add to the pot all the marshmallows and keep heating over low, stirring until all the marshmallows are melted; take pot off heat.
Immediately dump all the rice krispies cereal in and stir until all incorporated.
Coat a 9×13 baking dish with butter or good oil.
Take a rubber spatula and scrape the mixture out of the pot and into the baking dish, pressing on mixture to distribute it evenly in the pan, packing it down lightly with a gloved hand or some parchment paper.
Set aside to cool.
Using a cookie cutter in ‘candy corn’ shape (or use a small knife to create the shape), cut out the treats.
Decorate each treat in the classic ‘candy corn’ colors (stripes of color starting at the wide part and dividing about in 3rds:  yellow, orange, white tip.)

Serve when frosting hardens.

*You may also make your own powdered sugar frosting, much like you would for frosted sugar cookies.
