Packing School Lunches This Year? Here Are Some Fun Ideas

I’ve been reading a lot of homemaking and cooking blogs this summer and thought I’d start sharing some of the best posts I come across with you.

I’m calling them my “Tasty Bites” and hope you’ll enjoy these posts as much as I do.

Since this is our last week before school starts back up, anything to do with “Back to School” is catching my eye right now, especially school lunch ideas. My daughter isn’t a big fan of the lunch served at school (and neither am I).

We’re heading out tomorrow to buy a new lunch box and some containers and I’ve been researching fresh ideas on packed lunches. One of the things I came across was Erin’s school lunches at 5DollarDinners.com. She shares 31 Days of School lunches along with pictures and some fun printables to make mix and match lunches quick and easy.

I love her idea for PB&J Sushi and I’m sure it would be a big lunch box hit.

Whole Wheat PB&J Sushi (Flatten the bread slices, add the peanut butter and jelly, and cut into long slices.  Then roll into sushi (or pinwheels.)

It would be easy to adapt this to make all sorts of other “lunch box sushi”.

Click through to see pictures of her PB&J Sushi and quite a few other fun lunch box ideas.

Another fun ideas is to serve breakfast foods like her baked oatmeal for lunch. I look forward to seeing her other ideas that she’ll be sharing throughout the month of August.
