I use this recipe for any thing that calls for tomato juice. I am in 3rd stage kidney failure which means salt free and the sodium free tomato paste works great with some herbs added to it. Even my guys like this.
I am thinking of trying to add some carrot juice and other vegetable juice to it to maybe copy V8's flavor.

I take care of a man who is on a low salt diet. I use this to make my chili and spaghetti for him. I use 3 cans of water for spaghetti and 4 for chili. Add spices and you would never know.

Thanks for the recipe. I can't find any tomato juice in our area that is low sodium. Cub recently stopped carrying it. I have high blood pressure and would like to restrict sodium. I also think it tastes better without the salt. I love tomato juice. I can't wait to try it.

Thanks for this recipe! We love V8 juice but its to expensive. The main ingredient is tomato sauce, but most search answers say you can't use it to make tomato juice (?!)

Does anyone have any ideas on how to add vegetables to make it like V8?

Also found this one. Sounds good. I think I'm going to mix up this one tonight:

SPICY TOMATO JUICE

1 lg. can tomato juice
1/4 c. lemon juice (fresh squeeze)
1/8 tsp. hot sauce
1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. celery salt
1 dash garlic salt

Mix together in large pitcher and let set in the refrigerator overnight. Serve in glass with one Spanish olive. Be sure to shake or stir before pouring.

I googled a recipe for homemade Clamato. This is what I found. Haven't tried it though...

1 (46 ounce) can tomato juice (use the recipe for homemade here)
4 (10 ounce) cans clam juice
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
2 dashes hot sauce
5 dashes celery salt
5 dashes crushed red pepper flakes

Combine all ingredients in a large container and shake well.

Re-shake before serving.

Makes 86 ounces.
