I am looking for a variety of egg nog recipes out there. If you have a great traditional recipe, or one with a different twist or flavor to it, I’d love to hear about it.

If you are not concerned about recipes containing raw eggs, this one is my favorite. Quick and easy. You can make it richer by using higher fat milk or 1/2 & 1/2. You can make it “eggier” by adding an extra egg.

    Blender Egg Nog

    2 eggs
    2 Tbs sugar
    1 tsp vanilla
    2 Cups milk
    Dash Salt
    1/2 Cup crushed ice
    Nutmeg

Place eggs in blender with sugar and blend until creamy and lemony in color. Add vanilla, milk, salt and ice. Blend until ice is melted. Pour into glasses and sprinkle with nutmeg. Great for a quick breakfast.

This is perhaps more of an “orange julius” type of drink, but i really like it – 1 c orange juice, 1/3 c powdered milk, half a dozen ice cubes or so, 2 T sugar or to taste, 1 egg, 1 T real vanilla – put it all in blender, blend until ice is crushed very small – you could use whole milk and OJ concentrate if you wanted it richer.

If you want your eggs cooked, you can beat 4 eggs until very smooth, heat 3 c milk to a low simmering in a large saucepan, pour half of it slowly into the eggs, beating constantly, then slowly pour the egg/milk mix into the milk on the stove, stirring constantly. Then stir in a cup of half and half [or a cup of cream if you really want it rich], add 1 T pure vanilla, 1/4 c sugar or to taste, 1/8 to 1/2 T cinnamon, 1/8 tsp nutmeg [i like cinnnamon-y eggnog]and serve it warm or chilled – if you like your eggnog thicker, dissolve 1 T gelatin in a cup of the milk before you heat it.
