Easy Home Organization Tips and Homemade Ice Cream Recipes

August 3, 2011

Editorial

Hello again and welcome to another edition of the Hillbilly Housewife Newsletter.

My friend Tracy Roberts of MomsInABlog.com has me on an organizing frenzy!  She has inspired me with her new step-by-step solution I've been looking for to get my house in order, once and for all.  Be sure to click on and take a look at 30 Days to an Organized Home.

This week I am featuring two articles which were also inspired by working my way to an organized home.  It's amazing how once I started really digging in and committing to organizing, the process just kept snowballing.  Please scroll down and read the featured articles to learn more.

Every week in our recipe sharing section, we feature a recipe submitted by a reader. Please be sure to take a look at this week's entry. Also, please continue to submit as many recipes as you want each and every week to HBHW. We only ask that your recipes be YOUR recipes and not copied and pasted from another source. This is just a fun way to share recipes and to get your name mentioned here on HBHW.

This week's quote is about having a focus, a goal, a destination.  It's definitely a fun quote, but gets right to the point.  The story is actually a poem I posted that I found in an old cookbook.  I hope you'll take a moment to read and enjoy both.

Those are my thoughts this week. As always, I welcome your comments and suggestions. Feel free to email me at susanne@hillbillyhousewife.com

Warm Regards,

Susanne - The Hillbilly Housewife

There are a lot of ways to get your home organized, but I find it's much easier when I actually can still find things after I put everything away!  Also, having a few tips along the way helps.  I've always believed in getting as much advice as possible before I start a project.  Here are a few tips that I've found along my way to organizing my home.  Be sure to click on to learn more:

Recipe Sharing

This is the spot we have chosen to highlight recipes shared by our readers. Rather than post my own here, I'll randomly choose a recipe from the ones we receive here at HBHW. I hope you'll give this recipe a try.

How To Freeze Peaches

Free stone peaches
Sugar (keeps them from turning brown)

Directions:
Slice your peaces into thin slices, no need to peel them…just make sure they are washed. Place slices on a wax paper (or parchment paper) lined cookie tray. Sprinkle with sugar. Place tray into freezer (make sure you have an empty shelf ready to go!) Once peaches are frozen, remove from tray and place into ziploc bag. Get all the air out of the bag and place in freezer again. This makes a wonderful…healthy snack during the summer. You can enjoy them one at a time or ten at a time! ENJOY!

Note: You can do the same thing with fresh mangos. Did it today and what a healthy cold treat!!!
