Preparing Dried Sweet Corn

I have some dried sweet corn that I would like to prepare. I have had it that the Amish prepared and it was rather sweet and dark from perhaps either brown sugar added or molasses. Can someone tell me how to prepare it? Thanks Wanda

Put the dried corn in a pot and cover with warm water, let soak for about 1 hour. Then cook on med. heat until water is evaporated. Add brown sugar to taste and add milk, half & half, or cream (I use half & half). It should not be runny.

This is probably a stupid question…………why would you put brown sugar in corn, is it a personal preference or is there a particular reason? I am new to dehydrating and was thinking of doing it with a bunch of canned corn I got on sale.
