- 10-12 oz diet coke (or diet cola drink)
- 6 chicken breasts
- 1 c ketchup
Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6-8 hours.
This tastes great with rice or noodles.

Uhm, ack! Are you aware that the sweeteners in diet sodas break down into compounds when cooked for long periods? Not good to eat. It loses sweetness and tastes awful. For cooking with diet soda, only sodas sweetened with sucralose (Splenda) or Stevia (Truvia) should be used, not those sweetened with aspartame (Nutrasweet) or saccharine.
Thanks for the heads up. Let’s change that to Coke instead of diet coke. Thanks again.
There are many diet soda’s sweetened with sucralose. I live in Canada and the Great Value brand of diet cola at Walmart, the Kirkland brand of diet cola at Costco, and Diet Rite brand at my grocery store are all sucralose sweetened (no aspartame)I’m sure if these are available in Canada they MUST be available in the US. Thanks for sharing the recipe I’m going to try it today.
