We're in the market for a new bread maker. Any suggestions on models you would recommend because they've performed so darn well for you??

Hello,

Silly me!!!! I bought a new breadmaker for the 1st time and in the haste of trying it out, i forgot to empty bake it for 10mins as suggested and cleaning the pan a 2nd time. Bread looked ok but didnt eat it but am now worried it might affect the machine as I bought one of the dearer ones. Thanks

I know this is an old thread, but I am having a hard time finding the answer to my question. I bought a jar of rapid rise (bread machine) yeast. I failed to realize that the bread machine directions called for active dry yeast. Everything I read says you can use them interchangeably, but my machine is so basic, there is no way to eliminate a punch-down and second rise. I figured I'd give it a shot anyway. The loaf turned out way too dense and tough, and did not rise. Is this likely because I used the rapid rise and it went through two rise sessions? or should I assume I used too much honey or made an error in the recipe somehow? In other words, would using the rapid rise yeast in a two-rise bread machine lead to a non-rising loaf? Would it have that great an effect? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just one addition, I have a Toastmaster Bread Machine, received as a gift in 1995, still works well today but the bread basket has to be turned a little to get it out. You may want to try this if you can't get the basket out.

With some bread makers you turn the pan before you pull it out, and turn it to latch it in place when you put it back in. Hope that works.

Sounds like the non-stick finish is damaged. I can't help with that, but you can try using a small plastic utensil, such as a citrus peeler, to gently loosen the loaves. If you still have trouble, consider just making dough and shaping it into rolls for baking in the oven.

I've never seen a bread maker that didn't have a non-stick finish--is yours damaged? If so, that could be your problem. Whenever possible, remove the bread as soon as the cycle is done. If you have some sticking use a plastic utensil to gently loosen the stuck areas. When I bake bread in my regular oven and a loaf sticks I use a Pampered Chef or Tupperware citrus peeler (I got them free at their parties and don't use them for anything else.)
